Today, Kenya is the third largest Macadamia producer with a global market share of approx. 13%. Annual crop production is approx. 114,000 tonnes, valued around KES 3.8 billion.
Macadamia farming in Kenya provides an important source of income for around 200,000 smallholder farmers who supply factory processors alongside other suppliers.
Over 90% of Kenya’s Macadamia are produced for export with key destinations including US, EU, China, Japan, Hong Kong and Canada.
The Kenyan Macadamia offers a competitive alternative to top producers in Australia and South Africa.
