What the QR Code on Your Pack Actually Tells You
Every Pure Nutritions pack carries a small QR code near the batch tag. Most shoppers scan it once out of curiosity. Retail buyers and export partners tend to come back to it — because it's the fastest way to answer the question a supplier audit always asks first: where did this actually come from?
The record behind the code
Each batch is logged from the point ingredients arrive at the Nairobi facility. That record carries through cleaning and sorting, roasting, grinding or packing, and the final quality check before sealing. Rather than a single "best before" date, the code links to that full chain — origin, process and testing — for the specific batch printed on that pack, not a generic product page.
What actually shows up when you scan
Depending on the product, a scan can surface crop origin and, where available, the general field position it was grown in; the resources and fertiliser inputs used by the grower; confirmation that product-protection and active-substance rules were followed; the nutritional values for that specific item; and photos from the farm, fields or production line. It's the same information a quality manager would ask for in an email — just available in seconds, on the shelf or in a delivery bay.
Why it matters more for wholesale than retail
An individual shopper might scan a code once. A retail buyer scans it every time a new supplier comes up for review. Distributors use it to answer questions from their own downstream customers. And for export, having documented origin and testing data on hand — rather than promised on request — tends to shorten the conversation with customs and compliance teams considerably.
It's also why the system exists at the batch level rather than the product level. A "roasted cashew, Classic range" description doesn't change from month to month. The batch behind it — which farm, which roast run, which lab result — does, and that's the level buyers actually need visibility into.
Built on a simple standard: scan, verify, trust
The traceability system underpins Pure Nutritions' recognition by KEPROBA, Kenya's Export Promotion & Branding Agency, and it's the same record set our own quality control team checks against internally, batch by batch, before anything is sealed for delivery.
